Nepal Rastra Bank to Issue Rs 20 Billion Bond to Absorb Excess Liquidity
The central bank is issuing a one-year bond worth Rs 20 billion on Wednesday to manage excess liquidity in the banking system.
Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) is set to issue a Rs 20 billion one-year bond on Wednesday as part of its efforts to absorb excess liquidity from the banking system. Banks and financial institutions classified under Classes A, B, and C are eligible to participate in the online auction, which will remain open until 3:00 pm. The bond's interest rate will be determined through competitive bidding, while the principal will mature on July 9, 2027 (Asar 24, 2084 BS), with interest payments made semi-annually. Eligible institutions may submit bids starting from Rs 50 million, in multiples of Rs 50 million, up to the total issue size. The bond can also be used as collateral with Nepal Rastra Bank and other banks and financial institutions.
