The securities regulator is preparing a time-bound reform roadmap to address stock market concerns, strengthen investor confidence, and enhance market efficiency.

SEBON to Unveil Capital Market Reform Roadmap Next Week

The Securities Board of Nepal (SEBON) has announced that it will publish a comprehensive, time-bound Capital Market Development Roadmap next week in response to ongoing challenges in the stock market and concerns raised by investors. The regulator said the roadmap will be implemented immediately to improve market transparency, efficiency, and investor protection. As part of its reform agenda, SEBON has instructed licensed securities firms and related institutions to complete assigned responsibilities within specified deadlines, including the effective implementation of margin trading. The board has also begun reviewing key legal and regulatory frameworks, including the Securities Act, securities registration and issuance regulations, and corporate governance guidelines for listed companies, to ensure they remain modern and effective. Emphasizing investor protection, SEBON urged investors not to be influenced by rumors, misinformation, or speculative market talk and advised them to make investment decisions based on thorough research, independent analysis, and their individual risk tolerance.
