Makar Jitumaya Suri Hydropower Limited (MAKAR) has reported a strong improvement in profitability in Q4 FY 2082/83, with net profit rising 67.57% to Rs. 7.82 crore. The growth was mainly supported by lower financial expenses and a significant reduction in long-term debt.

Q4 Update: Makar Jitumaya Suri’s Net Profit Surges 67.57%

Makar Jitumaya Suri Hydropower Limited (MAKAR) has published its unaudited fourth-quarter financial results for FY 2082/83, reporting a significant year-on-year increase in net profit. The company earned a net profit of Rs. 7.82 crore during the fiscal year, up 67.57 percent from Rs. 4.66 crore recorded in the previous fiscal year. Meanwhile, electricity sales revenue increased marginally to Rs. 39.20 crore, compared to Rs. 38.86 crore a year earlier, representing a growth of just 0.89 percent. Operating profit, however, declined slightly by 0.39 percent during the review period. One of the key factors supporting the rise in net profit was the reduction in financial expenses, with the company’s interest and debt-related expenses falling from Rs. 18.31 crore to around Rs. 15.01 crore. By the end of FY 2082/83, the company’s paid-up capital stood at Rs. 76 crore, while accumulated profit increased substantially from Rs. 3.28 crore to Rs. 11.11 crore. The company also made significant progress in reducing its long-term debt, which fell from Rs. 1.93 billion to approximately Rs. 17.80 crore. Meanwhile, the company’s total assets stood at Rs. 2.67 billion at the end of the fiscal year. The latest Q4 results indicate that improved financial efficiency and a sharp reduction in debt-related expenses played a key role in strengthening MAKAR’s overall profitability.
