Electricity Supply in Kathmandu Valley May Be Affected on October 10–11
Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) is upgrading the Matatirta–Syuchatar 132 kV transmission line, which may disrupt electricity supply in parts of Kathmandu Valley on Saturday and Sunday.
The electricity supply in parts of Kathmandu Valley may be affected on October 10 and 11 due to maintenance and capacity enhancement work on the Matatirta–Syuchatar 132 kV transmission line. The Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA), through its Project Management Directorate, is replacing the existing low-capacity conductor with a high-capacity High-Temperature Low-Sag (HTLS) conductor to improve the reliability and efficiency of the electricity network. For the upgrade, the transmission line will remain shut down from 9 AM to 5 PM on both days. Around 400 meters of conductor remain to be replaced in one circuit of the double-circuit transmission line. The work is expected to increase transmission capacity and help meet rising electricity demand. Power supply may be affected in areas served by Matatirta, Syuchatar and related substations. NEA has made technical preparations to complete the work on schedule, although unfavorable weather could affect the timeline. The authority has apologized to consumers for the inconvenience.
