Nagdhunga Tunnel to Start Charging Tolls from November 1
Vehicles using the Nagdhunga–Naubise tunnel will be charged tolls starting November 1, with rates ranging from Rs. 60 to Rs. 600 depending on vehicle type and travel direction.
The Nagdhunga Tunnel Construction Project is set to begin collecting tolls from vehicles using the Nagdhunga–Naubise tunnel route from November 1. According to a public notice issued by the project, the toll collection will follow a decision made by the Executive Committee of the Road Board Nepal. The government had previously approved the toll rates based on vehicle categories and published them in the Nepal Gazette. Under the approved rates, cars, vans, pickups, tractors, microbuses, and other light vehicles will be charged Rs. 65 when entering Kathmandu and Rs. 60 when departing from the capital. Similarly, minibuses and mini-tippers or trucks will pay Rs. 125 when entering Kathmandu and Rs. 80 when leaving. Buses and trucks with a single rear axle will be charged Rs. 260 for entry into Kathmandu and Rs. 200 for departure. For larger trucks, heavy vehicles, and heavy equipment, the toll has been set at Rs. 600 when entering Kathmandu and Rs. 250 when departing from the capital. The Nagdhunga Tunnel was inaugurated on July 27, and vehicles have been using the route on a trial basis since then. The introduction of toll collection marks a new phase in the operation of the tunnel, which is intended to provide an alternative route for travelers and improve road connectivity between Kathmandu and Naubise.
