The central bank continues its liquidity management efforts by conducting another large-scale deposit collection auction from banks and financial institutions.

Nepal Rastra Bank to Withdraw Rs 60 Billion Again Amid Excess Liquidity

Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) is set to withdraw Rs 60 billion from the banking system on Friday as part of its ongoing efforts to manage excess liquidity. The central bank announced that a deposit collection auction will be held at 3:00 PM, allowing eligible banks and financial institutions to participate by bidding at interest rates. Class 'A', 'B', and 'C' licensed financial institutions may submit bids starting from Rs 100 million, with additional bids accepted in multiples of Rs 50 million, up to the total announced amount. NRB stated that multiple interest rate bids will also be permitted. The 91-day deposit collection instrument will mature on October 9, 2026 (Ashoj 23, 2083), when both the principal and accrued interest will be repaid. The move comes as the central bank continues to absorb surplus liquidity from the financial system.
