Kathmandu’s Illegal 8-Story Landmark Facing Imminent Demolition as Bulldozers Arrive!

An eight-story building located in Devinagar, Kathmandu, is scheduled to be demolished by authorities. The decision follows findings that the structure was built without a land ownership certificate (Lalpurja) or an approved architectural map. Kathmandu Metropolitan City, in coordination with the Ministry of Home Affairs, has moved to clear the unauthorized construction.

The action is part of a broader campaign to remove illegal structures and encroachments along the Dhobi Khola corridor. The building currently houses several commercial entities, including a mart, a restaurant, and various offices. Following the notice of demolition, business owners have been seen removing their goods and vacating the premises. Security personnel have been deployed in large numbers to the site, and bulldozers are already stationed to begin the demolition process. The surrounding corridor has been closed to ensure safety during the operation.
