Government Takes Four Major Decisions at Cabinet Meeting

The Council of Ministers on Tuesday approved four major decisions covering environmental commitments, security sector appointments and committee restructuring. The Cabinet endorsed an agreement under the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) aimed at implementing the Montreal Protocol and strengthening efforts to manage and reduce substances that deplete the ozone layer. The meeting also approved the promotion of Armed Police Force Deputy Inspector General Anjani Kumar Pokhrel to the post of Additional Inspector General (AIG) following a proposal from the Ministry of Home Affairs. In addition, the Cabinet appointed Balbhadra Bastola of Kaski as chairperson of the Land Problem Resolution Committee, alongside members Amir Prasad Neupane, Padmaniti Soti and Dr. Rona Shrestha. The government further extended by 45 days the tenure of a study committee tasked with reviewing the findings of an investigation into the incidents that occurred during the protests of Bhadra 23 and 24, 2082 BS, allowing additional time for recommendations concerning the security agencies mentioned in the report.
