    NEPSE Continues Downward Slide with a 6.31-Point Drop; Turnover Shrinks to Rs. 4.04 Arba

    The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) extended its bearish momentum on Tuesday, shedding 6.31 points to close at 2,705.45. Market participation cooled down significantly as daily turnover contracted to Rs. 4.04 Arba, with the Finance sector taking the hardest hit.

    The benchmark index of the Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) witnessed a continuous downward trend for the second consecutive session, shedding a single digit of 6.31 points, or 0.23%, to settle at 2,705.45. The market opened at 2,711.76 and demonstrated clear intraday volatility, peaking at a high of 2,722.81 before hitting a low of 2,701.56. Market participation cooled down with the daily turnover contracting to Rs. 4.04 Arba, down from Monday's Rs. 4.41 Arba. A total volume of 10,708,596 shares changed hands across 355 companies via 48,116 distinct transactions. Concurrently, total market capitalization stood at Rs. 46.22 Kharba. Ankhu Khola Jalvidhyut Company Ltd (AKJCL) commanded the highest liquidity, leading the turnover board with transactions aggregating to Rs. 31.99 crores to close at Rs. 394.80. On the performance front, Sopan Pharmaceuticals Limited (SOPL) emerged as the premier gainer of the day, surging by 15.00% to finish at Rs. 703.10. Conversely, Sayapatri Hydropower Limited (SPHL) suffered the steepest hit, losing 4.90% to post a last traded price of Rs. 602.00. Sectoral performance revealed a mixed bag as a broader profit-booking wave pulled 177 scrips down, leaving only 80 gainers. The Trading Index registered the highest sub-index gain of 0.31%, whereas the Finance Index took the hardest hit, shrinking by 0.62%.
