Prithvi Highway to Close for Six Hours Overnight for Road Repairs in Dhading
The Prithvi Highway in Dhading will remain closed from 11:00 PM today until 5:00 AM tomorrow to repair a sunken road section at Galaudi, caused by erosion from the Trishuli River.
The Prithvi Highway in Dhading will be closed for six hours, from 11:00 PM today to 5:00 AM tomorrow, to carry out repair work on a damaged section at Galaudi. Chief District Officer Laxmi Pandey (Gautam) issued a notice stating that the road at Galaudi in Ward No. 5 of Gajuri Rural Municipality had subsided due to erosion by the Trishuli River, necessitating the closure for maintenance. The highway was previously obstructed after the road subsided on Ashoj 23 but was reopened following a full day of repair efforts on Ashoj 24. Further maintenance work has made another temporary closure necessary. The timing has raised concerns among transport operators ahead of Dashain, with Punya Prasad (Sarojan) Sitaula, president of the National Federation of Nepalese Transport Entrepreneurs, warning that the closure could inconvenience passengers and transport businesses. According to the report, 207,251 passengers left Kathmandu through the New Bus Park between Ashoj 17 and 25 to celebrate Dashain outside the capital.
