Festival Relief: ATMs to Dispense Rs 100 Notes Across Nepal

Nepal Rastra Bank has directed banks and financial institutions to make Rs 100 notes available through ATMs, aiming to ease the rush for small-denomination notes during the upcoming Dashain and festive season.

Festival Relief: ATMs to Dispense Rs 100 Notes Across Nepal

Nepal Rastra Bank has taken a customer-friendly measure ahead of Dashain and the festive season, directing banks and financial institutions to arrange the distribution of Rs 100 denomination notes through ATMs. The Currency Management Department of Nepal Rastra Bank has formally instructed the Nepal Bankers’ Association, Development Bankers Association Nepal, and Nepal Finance Companies Association to coordinate with their member institutions and make the necessary arrangements. Until now, most ATMs have primarily dispensed Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 notes, forcing people to visit bank counters when they needed smaller denominations. This often resulted in long queues, particularly during the festive season when demand for smaller notes rises. With the new arrangement, customers will be able to withdraw Rs 100 notes directly from ATMs, reducing the need to stand in long queues at bank counters and making cash withdrawals more convenient during the festive period.
