Heavy Rain Disrupts Major Highways Across Nepal, Multiple Routes Blocked

Heavy rainfall across Nepal has caused landslides, floods and road cave-ins, disrupting transportation along several major highways and local roads. According to Nepal Police, roads in Rasuwa, Nuwakot, Dhading, Kavrepalanchok, Chitwan, Manang, Baglung, Rolpa, Kalikot, Gulmi, Myagdi, Mustang, Humla, Nawalparasi East, Palpa, Lalitpur, Lamjung, Tanahu and Parbat have been affected. The Pasang Lhamu Highway in Rasuwa has been completely disrupted after the Trishuli River eroded the road section. Meanwhile, traffic on parts of the Prithvi Highway, Narayangadh–Muglin Road, BP Highway and Araniko Highway has also been affected by landslides. One-way traffic is operating at Krishnabhir, while the Benighat Rorang section has been completely blocked. Several routes in Gandaki, Lumbini and Karnali provinces, including the Chame–Besisahar, Beni–Jomsom, Jomsom–Korala, Karnali Corridor, Siddhartha Highway and Maldhunga–Beni sections, have also been blocked by landslides and debris. Authorities have imposed restrictions or closed risky road sections and have urged the public to avoid unnecessary travel and follow updates from local administrations and security agencies.
