The Government of Nepal has once again conveyed its clear position and concerns through diplomatic channels to both India and China regarding the use of Nepali territory at Lipulekh Pass for the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra.
In an official response to media queries, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that Nepal has consistently urged India to refrain from carrying out activities such as road construction, expansion, border trade, and pilgrimage in the Lipulekh area.
According to the statement issued by the Ministry’s Spokesperson, Lok Bahadur Chhetri, China has also been formally informed about Nepal’s claim over the Lipulekh region.
The Ministry reaffirmed that Limpiyadhura, Lipulekh, and Kalapani are integral parts of Nepal, as established by the Sugauli Treaty.
Furthermore, the government reiterated its commitment to resolving border issues through diplomatic means, guided by the spirit of close and friendly relations between Nepal and India, as well as based on historical treaties, agreements, maps, and supporting evidence.
