Lawmakers Urge Govt to Speed Up Relief Distribution and Flood Rescue

Lawmakers have urged the government to immediately distribute relief materials received from donor agencies to people affected by the recent floods. Speaking during the urgent hour of the House of Representatives meeting on Thursday, Yagya Mani Neupane said relief materials stored at the warehouse of Tribhuvan International Airport should be promptly delivered to flood victims. Bodh Narayan Shrestha called for intensified search and rescue operations at private houses, financial institution buildings and religious sites buried by the floods. Similarly, Ganga Devi Shrestha urged the government to ensure proper resettlement of flood victims and collect accurate data on buried houses and property losses. She also called for the construction of structures to prevent further encroachment by the Bhotekoshi River. Yasoda Kumari Baral called for an immediate solution to the cooking gas shortage, while Tikabhadra Hamal urged the government to provide assistance to flood-affected people. Meanwhile, Bishnu Bahadur Khadka raised concerns over the shortage of specialist doctors at Karnali Provincial Hospital. Yubaraj Dulal also urged the government to immediately clear outstanding payments owed to service providers involved in the Melamchi Drinking Water Project.
