Government Plans Alternative Routes for LPG Supply

The government has decided to use the Tribhuvan Rajpath and Kanti Lokpath to maintain LPG supplies after the Krishna Bhir section of the Prithvi Highway was severely damaged and became inaccessible to large gas bullet trucks. Following discussions between Nepal Oil Corporation and LPG sellers, empty cylinders will be transported from Kathmandu by trucks to refilling plants in the Terai and then brought back to Kathmandu through the alternative routes. A 10-wheel truck can carry around 400 LPG cylinders, according to the corporation. To prevent shortages, people with disabilities, students and customers who own only one cylinder will receive priority in distribution. Large industrial and commercial customers, meanwhile, will have to arrange transportation of their LPG requirements from the Terai plants themselves until the main highway is restored.
