The Government of Nepal has approved seven major decisions, including key appointments, policy reforms, legislative measures, and relief support for victims of recent unrest in Sunsari and Siraha.
The Government of Nepal has approved seven major decisions during the latest Cabinet meeting, covering appointments, legislative reforms, institutional restructuring, and relief measures. According to government spokesperson Sasmita Pokharel, the Cabinet endorsed the First Amendment to the Statistics Regulations, 2081, and appointed Yangki Ukyab as the Chief Executive Officer of the Investment Board Nepal. The meeting also approved the dissolution of the Nepal Intermodal Transport Development Committee formed under the 2054 order and its merger with Nepal Transit and Warehousing Company Limited. In another key decision, the Cabinet approved the phased nationwide implementation of the Slaughterhouse and Meat Inspection Act, 2055, and authorized the submission of the First Amendment Bill relating to Children, 2081, to the Federal Parliament. The government further appointed Professor Dr. Khadga Bahadur KC as Chairperson and Professor Dr. Rojish Shrestha as Secretary of the University Grants Commission. Additionally, the Cabinet decided to provide compensation, relief, and medical treatment to those killed and injured during recent protests in Sunsari and Siraha districts.
