Prithvi Highway Hit by Landslides at Seven Locations Amid Continuous Rainfall

Continuous rainfall has caused landslides at seven locations along the Prithvi Highway, disrupting transportation along the major highway. The road has been completely blocked at two locations, while traffic is operating on a one-way basis at the remaining affected sections. Landslides and falling rocks have been reported at Krishnabhir, Parewabhir, Jamireghat, Jahare, Jawangkhola, Tigrang Khola and Kameribhir. At Krishnabhir, landslides and falling rocks have been occurring since Thursday night. Although efforts were made to clear the debris from the road, continued rainfall has hampered the clearance operation. The road is also reportedly beginning to sink from the lower side, raising further concerns over road safety. Meanwhile, the District Administration Office, Dhading, issued a notice on Friday morning announcing a complete suspension of vehicular movement along the highway until further notice due to the ongoing risk posed by landslides and rainfall.
