The Supreme Court of Nepal has called on concerned authorities to conduct an impartial and independent investigation into recent news reports and social media posts involving the Chief Justice and other Supreme Court justices. The decision was made during a Full Court meeting held on Monday, Kartik 16, where the court adopted five key resolutions regarding the matter. According to a press statement issued by Supreme Court Spokesperson and Joint Registrar Dr. Ashok Kumar Kshetri, the court urged the relevant authorities to investigate the publicly raised issues without prejudice and publish factual findings at the earliest. In its first resolution, the Full Court reaffirmed its firm commitment to the supremacy of the Constitution and the law, emphasizing the importance of upholding the rule of law. Similarly, the court called for a fair and independent investigation into the reports and requested that the findings, supported by facts and evidence, be made public as soon as possible. It also expressed its full commitment to fulfilling its accountability and providing necessary cooperation during any investigation conducted in accordance with the law. The Supreme Court further urged media outlets and social media users not to publish or broadcast content that could prematurely blame individuals or obstruct the administration of justice before the investigation reaches a conclusion. It warned that misleading reports could create confusion and negatively affect public trust in the judiciary. Additionally, the Full Court called on judicial personnel working across the country to remain focused on their responsibilities and continue carrying out impartial judicial duties without being distracted by recent media reports. The Supreme Court stated that the Full Court meeting was held to present an institutional position on the matter, following written statements already issued by the Chief Justice and the concerned justices.
