Winter Office Hours Take Effect Across Nepal; Government Offices to Operate Until 4 PM

Winter working hours have come into effect at government offices across Nepal from Monday, Kartik 16, following the government's decision to revise office operating hours for the winter season. According to the new schedule, government offices will remain open from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM for three months, until Magh 15. The revised timetable has reduced daily office hours by one hour compared to the previous schedule, under which government offices operated from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. The adjustment has been made considering shorter daylight hours during winter, as well as the convenience of government employees and service recipients. The decision has also been published in the Nepal Gazette. Under the new arrangement, government offices will operate five days a week, from Monday to Friday, while Saturday and Sunday will remain public holidays. The two-day weekly holiday arrangement was previously introduced by the Cabinet of Ministers to address difficulties in petroleum supply and reduce fuel consumption. With the implementation of the winter schedule, concerned authorities have urged service recipients to visit government offices on time to access public services. The regular office schedule will resume from Magh 16, when government offices will once again operate from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
