Travel Alert: Avoid Night and Long-Distance Travel Until Ashoj 12

The Federation of Nepalese National Transport Entrepreneurs has urged the public to avoid night-time travel and non-essential long-distance journeys from Thursday through Monday, Ashoj 12, amid the increased risk of weather-related incidents. Issuing a statement, the federation urged its members and passengers to check road conditions and weather forecasts before starting any journey and to take necessary precautions while travelling. The federation said that continuous rainfall could increase the risk of floods, landslides and other disasters on roads, potentially affecting transportation and passenger safety. Earlier, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority (NDRRMA) had also advised concerned stakeholders and the public to avoid night-time and long-distance travel in view of the potential risks associated with adverse weather conditions.
