The government is preparing to make land administration services available through all local governments across Nepal within the next month, aiming to bring essential public services closer to citizens. Prime Minister Balendra Shah announced the initiative through a Facebook statement on Monday, stating that the government has prioritized decentralizing land administration services as part of its broader governance reform agenda. According to Shah, bringing government services closer to citizens is one of the fundamental objectives of the federal democratic republic. He emphasized that people should not have to travel long distances to access essential administrative services. The initiative is part of the government's 100-point governance reform agenda and aims to allow citizens to obtain land-related services directly from their respective local governments. So far, 33 local governments across the country have already started providing land administration services. Building on this progress, the government plans to extend the services to all remaining local governments within the next month. The federal government will also provide the necessary support and assistance to facilitate implementation. The transfer of these services is being carried out in accordance with the Constitution of Nepal, the Local Government Operation Act, 2017, and the Ordinance to Amend Certain Nepal Acts Relating to Land, 2083. The government expects the initiative to reduce administrative hassles, minimize travel expenses and make land-related services more accessible and convenient. It is also intended to strengthen federalism by enabling local governments to exercise their constitutional and legal authority more effectively. The move reflects the government's broader vision of implementing the concept of 'Singha Durbar in Every Village' by ensuring that essential government services are accessible at the local level.
