PM Balen Heads to New York for UNGA 81st Session 🇺🇳

Prime Minister Balendra Shah is scheduled to depart Kathmandu for New York today, September 22, 2026, to lead Nepal’s delegation to the 81st Session of the United Nations General Assembly. He will leave Tribhuvan International Airport at 4:15 PM on a Qatar Airways flight. The high-level General Debate is being held at the United Nations Headquarters in New York from September 22 to 28. According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Prime Minister Shah is scheduled to address the General Debate on September 24. During his visit, PM Shah is also scheduled to meet UN Secretary-General António Guterres as part of his official engagements. The Nepali delegation will participate in various high-level meetings, side events and diplomatic engagements held on the sidelines of the General Assembly. The delegation accompanying the Prime Minister includes Foreign Minister Shishir Khanal, Chief Advisor Kumar Byanjankar, Foreign Secretary Amrit Bahadur Rai and other senior government officials. Foreign Minister Khanal had already arrived in New York on September 20 for UNGA-related meetings and ministerial engagements. The visit marks Prime Minister Shah’s first foreign trip since assuming office. He is scheduled to return to Kathmandu on September 26, 2026, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
