SEBON Tightens Watch on Flood-Hit Companies, Gives NEPSE 5-Point Directive
SEBON has directed NEPSE to strengthen monitoring of companies affected by recent floods and natural disasters while ensuring timely disclosure and investor protection.
The Securities Board of Nepal (SEBON) has issued a five-point directive to the Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) following major damage to hydropower projects and infrastructure caused by devastating floods, particularly across the Trishuli and Bhotekoshi river systems. Under Section 84(1) of the Securities Act, SEBON has instructed NEPSE to identify and disclose companies directly or indirectly affected by the disasters and provide investors with detailed information about the extent of damage. Companies are expected to disclose their project locations, physical damage, current generation status, impact on production capacity, human-resource losses, transmission infrastructure, insurance claims, financial impact, estimated recovery period and potential impact on loan repayment capacity.
