Frequently Asked Questions
How is the average share price calculated?
The cost of every purchase is added together and divided by the total number of shares. Larger purchase quantities therefore have more weight in the result.
Is this the same as a simple average?
No. A weighted average accounts for how many shares were bought at each price, while a simple average treats every price equally.
Can I include more than two purchases?
Yes. Add a row for each additional purchase lot before calculating the average.
